Wearable Technology – Smart Ring

We just discussed smartwatches in one of our previous articles and we are going to remain in the wearable technology area for a bit. Today, we are bringing to your attention the Smart Ring.

If you haven’t seen it yet, let us tell you it is exactly what the name suggests. It is a piece of new technology that can wear on your finger, allowing you to control many of your smartphone’s actions.

According to some studies carried, on average, smartphone users check their phones once every 6 minutes; so the Smart Ring is very handy (literally). It saves time and energy since the phone remains in the pocket with the display turned off. For the ladies, this is especially useful since they don’t need to search in the depths of the oversized bag if they want to answer/check their phones.

The device uses Bluetooth 4.0 technology and offers all sorts of useful real-time updates: incoming/outgoing calls, texts, e-mails and social/IM notifications (Facebook, Twitter, Hangout or Skype).

By using the Smart Ring, you will also be able to control the music, answer or reject your calls and trigger the camera. All of these without touching the phone at all. Well, it seems like there’s a new age for selfies.

We are glad to see the device is waterproof, it would have been a nightmare to have to take it off every time you wash your hands. The battery is not that impressive, it lasts only 24 hours, but we kinda’ like the “lost your phone” feature. Basically, if you lost or misplaced you smartphone, the ring send a signal and an alarm will go off, even if your phone is on silent mode.

The wireless charger it comes with is pretty cool as well. It charges your smartphone and the Smarty Ring at the same time.
